Album CHILD’S PLAY release Sept. 4th 2026!!
On Friday Sept. 4th 2026, a new Teus Nobel album will see the light of day! Recorded with a brand new formation (including Teis Semey, Jasper Hoiby and Niek de Bruijn), the album Child’s Play will be available on cd, vinyl and on all streaming platforms. Child’s Play is Nobel’s 11th album and his most personal one to date. The compositions were inspired on the untroubled and carefree child’s play of his two sons Bix and Charlie, during a period of uncertainty when his wife faced a serious illness. Their playing became the heartbeat and rhythm of each day – the sense of purpose to keep going and never give up.
This winter, a new quartet around trumpeter Teus Nobel will record a jazzalbum, called Child’s Play. These compositions were all inspired by his children Bix (6) and Charlie (3), who pulled the family through during a family crisis, by just being their wonderful selves.
The album will be released in September 2026, simultaneously with a documentary about this traumatic period. In several venues, the releaseconcert will be a combination of the display of the doc + a live concert.

Reeds als 12-jarig jongetje speelde ik het Signaal Taptoe Infanterie tijdens de 4-mei Herdenking in mijn woonplaats Krimpen aan de Lek. Dit bleef ik jarenlang doen tot ik mijn geboorteplaats verliet. Het Signaal Taptoe Infanterie (maar ook The Last Post) kwam echter weer op mijn pad toen ik tussen 2010 en 2019 als solotrompettist werkzaam was bij het Orkest der Koninklijke Luchtmacht. Bij begrafenissen van (ex-)militairen, de 4 Mei Herdenking op De Dam (2016), de Nationale Taptoe in Ahoy en herdenkingsceremonies rondom de MH17-vliegtuigramp, maar ook tijdens ceremonies in Moskou (RUS) en Bamako (Mali) vertolkte ik de rol als ‘hoornblazer’ om een laatste eer te bewijzen.
De laatste keer was vorig jaar op 4 mei toen ik aanbood het Signaal Taptoe te spelen bij het verzorgingstehuis van mijn huidige woonplaats Oisterwijk. Ook ben ik op 4 mei nog vrijwel jaarlijks te gast bij radioprogramma’s om erover te vertellen. We zagen vorig jaar op 4 mei, midden in de lockdown die een gezamenlijke herdenking onmogelijk maakte, natuurlijk ook de actie van duizenden professionele èn amateur-trompettisten om om 8 uur het signaal te blazen voor hun eigen huis. In aanloop van die actie kreeg ik meerdere verzoekjes voor een ‘demo-versie’. Ik heb voor dit jaar een versie opgenomen van het signaal, die je via onderstaande link kunt beluisteren.
